HP#7

When Tracy called to tell me my copy of book 7 arrived, I did the happy dance! I pictured myself at a Potterhead self-help session, " Hello, my name is Karen and I'm a Potterhead.".

Oh well, I'm in good company.

Yes, I prepared sufficiently for the release date by re-reading each book yet again. I've done that before - so I've actually read #1 6 times, #2 5 times, etc... At least I don't have different publication versions like some people I know. Don't you think that would be excessive?

hah!

Summer reading

So far this summer, I've read:
  • Anita Shreve's "The Pilot's Wife" (Well written - great story - reminded me of Desperate Housewives and Lost (he had a double life?!))
  • Ann-Marie Macdonald's "Fall on Your Knees" (As beautifully written as it was disturbing)
  • Neil Gaiman's "Sandman" series (again) (My yearly fix of this amazing graphic novel. One of a few books I continually re-read over. So many layers, themes, characters!)
Currently, I just started Lisa Gardner's "The Other Daughter" and I get to go pick up from ILL tonight a long awaited "Y: The Last Man".

Books I've recently read

Having a broken elbow and a horrible sinus infection has meant that this past month I've been busy doing a LOT of reading. I haven't been able to be at the computer, so chatting with people has been off-limits. Luckily, I had the fortune of marrying a wonderful and understanding guy who has done a great job taking care of me. :)

So what have I read?
Anansi Brothers - Neil Gaiman
I've been a great fan of Neil's for years, and had the opportunity to hear him speak at WLA conference 2 years ago. I enjoy his story writing and the way he weaves characters from one story to another. Hmm... Sounds suspiciously like SK.

Cell - Stephen King
I was introduced to SK by Joe ten years ago and haven't been able to get enough, from The Dark Tower series to the full version of The Stand. I liked this novel, but honestly was expecting so much more depth. It was as if dear SK was holding back, not wanting this to turn into another The Stand. Now some might argue that was a good thing, but I wanted more! I could see where SK could have developed much more solid plotlines, expanded on certain characters, made the ending much more dynamic.

Stolen - Kelley Armstrong
I read Bitten a number of years ago and really was excited to see another book by KA.

Urban Shaman - C.E. Murphy
Jenica suggested many of these books (Thanks JR!) and I was curious about this particular one. I had to ILL it (note to self: when creating bookstore, expand on what the public library doesn't own). It was fantastic! Looking forward to reading next published books!

Currently reading:
Counting Heads - David Marusek
So far, I'm hooked! Question of the day is: What would your "Age of Choice" be?

What are YOU reading?
